It has been over 40 years since our fathers, Steven Shapiro and Ron Pertnoy, oversaw the building of their first new “spec” home from a dusty, old construction trailer in Wellington.
Actually, the story starts long before then—in Baltimore in the 1920s, when our grandfathers, Irvin Shapiro and Earl Pertnoy, worked together as kids—and then came to Florida to start Baron’s, their chain of men’s clothing stores. Ron and Steven, our fathers, grew up steeped in retail and customer service, then started The Shapiro|Pertnoy Companies in 1978 and boldly ventured into homebuilding and real estate development.

We chronicle the great times—and the truly scary ones, too.
Please enjoy this retrospective of The Shapiro|Pertnoy Companies and know that we, as the new leaders, are as mindful of the past as we are enthusiastic about the future—and ready to write the next chapters.
